SSORD Defence Consulting Inc. provides support and advice to Canadian and international companies engaged in or considering engaging in defence materiel related business with the Government of Canada. Support can take a variety of forms ranging from long-term strategic advice to specific questions about the government procurement process and substantive input to plans, analysis and proposals. Support is also available in the form of market analysis, including future requirements, anticipated procurement strategies and risk assessments.
Mr Ross is a part-time Executive in Residence with the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa, where he assists in the delivery of the executive Masters of Business in Complex Project Leadership Program. As a Visiting Professor he teaches the "Acquisition Strategies" course and assists in various academic activities to enhance the learning experience of candidates.
The program was imported from the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. Mr Ross had sent five Canadian candidates to the Brisbane course when he served as ADM Materiel at National Defence. When Brisbane converted their program to a part-time executive program, the Telfer School of Management acquired the rights to use the IP and Mr Ross has been involved in the stand up of Telfer's version of the program since 2014. Mr Ross is also the Academic Director at Telfer of a 20-day Certificate Program in Complex Project and Procurement Leadership. He co-delivers three of the eight modules and manages the content and integration of the remaining five. The program runs from October to June with modules in-house two or three days per month. The Certificate graduated 49 Government, Military and Industry leaders in June 2015 and another 59 in June 2016. The fifth and sixth cohorts graduated 38 participants in June 2018 and the program is now working with Cohorts 7 and 8.
